Description

Discoloured, thickened or crumbly nails take months to grow out — which is exactly why protecting and strengthening them matters as much as treating them. Akileine Onykoleine Nail Solution helps protect nails against bacterial and fungal attack, strengthens weak, damaged nails and supports healthy regrowth. Formulated with tea tree essential oil and silk amino acids, it can also be used alongside antifungal therapy to support the overall care plan while the new nail grows through.

Why podiatrists recommend it

  • Protects vulnerable nails — creates an environment less hospitable to the fungi and bacteria that attack damaged nails
  • Strengthens and conditions — silk amino acids nourish brittle, flaky or trauma-damaged nail plates
  • Works alongside treatment — suitable as an adjunct to antifungal therapy prescribed by your podiatrist or GP
  • Easy brush applicator — a thin daily coat takes seconds; the 10ml bottle lasts months of daily use

How to use

Once daily, brush a thin layer over the affected nail and massage until absorbed. Nails replace themselves slowly, so persistence is everything: expect 4–8 months for fingernails and 6–12 months for toenails to fully renew. Take a photo at the start — progress at the nail base is easy to miss day-to-day but obvious month-to-month. Where Onykoleine fits among nail treatments

Think of nail care in two jobs: clearing an established infection — the role of dedicated antifungal treatments such as Emtrix or prescription therapy — and protecting and strengthening the nail so the regrowth comes through healthy, which is Onykoleine's job. For mild discolouration, early changes, or nails weakened by trauma, gel polish or age, Onykoleine alone is a sensible start. For established fungal infection, use it as the supporting act alongside proper antifungal treatment, not instead of it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my nail problem is actually fungal?
You often can't by eye — thickened or discoloured nails can also be caused by trauma, psoriasis or simple ageing, and studies suggest around half of suspected fungal nails are something else. A podiatrist can assess it, and testing is available before committing to months of treatment. Our thick toenails guide runs through the common causes.

How long before I see results?
The existing damaged nail never "heals" — improvement appears as healthy new nail growing from the base. Most people notice clearer growth at the cuticle within 2–3 months, with full toenail replacement taking 6–12 months.

Can I wear nail polish over it?
Apply Onykoleine to bare nails and let it absorb fully. Ideally leave nails unpolished during treatment — polish traps moisture and hides the progress you're trying to monitor.

Is tea tree oil enough to cure a fungal nail on its own?
Evidence for tea tree oil alone curing established onychomycosis is limited — which is why we position Onykoleine as protection, strengthening and adjunct care rather than a standalone cure. Established infections do best with a proper antifungal plan.

How long does the 10ml bottle last?
Applied daily to one or two nails, several months — the brush applies a very thin, economical layer, and the manufacturer rates it at roughly 500 applications.
