Description

Every long run, hike or match ends the same way for some athletes: hot spots, chafe and blisters. Sports Akileine NOK Anti-Friction Balm is the pre-event protective layer trusted by endurance athletes — an invisible barrier that lets skin glide against socks and straps instead of tearing against them. Applied before activity, it dramatically reduces the friction that causes blisters, while moisturising and conditioning the skin so it stays resilient over long distances.

Why podiatrists recommend it

  • Prevents blisters before they start — reduces the skin-on-fabric friction that causes them, rather than patching the damage afterwards
  • Long-lasting protection — formulated to survive hours of activity, sweat included
  • Beyond feet — works anywhere friction bites: inner thighs, underarms, nipple chafe, strap and wetsuit rub
  • Conditions as it protects — keeps skin supple rather than just coating it

How to use

Massage a thin layer into clean, dry skin on friction-prone zones — heels, toes, balls of the feet — 15 minutes or so before activity, then sock up as normal. Reapply for ultra-distance events. Pair it with well-fitted shoes and moisture-wicking socks; friction, moisture and fit are the blister triangle, and NOK handles the first. NOK or TANO — which Sports Akileine?

They're the two halves of endurance foot prep. NOK (this product) is the event-day lubricant — applied before activity to stop friction on the day. TANO Skin Strengthener is the training-block conditioner — applied in the weeks beforehand to toughen and prepare the skin itself. Marathoners and trail runners typically use TANO through the build-up, then NOK on race morning. For a single event with no prep time, NOK is the one to grab.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work in wet conditions?
Yes — it's formulated to persist through sweat and wet shoes, which is precisely when blister risk peaks. For multi-hour wet events (trail ultras, adventure racing), carry it and reapply at checkpoints.

Will it make my feet slide around inside my shoes?
No — it reduces skin-level friction without turning your foot into a bar of soap. Fit issues cause in-shoe sliding; NOK just stops the skin paying the price for it.

Can I use it with anti-blister socks or taping?
Yes, they stack well. Apply NOK to skin first; if you tape hotspots, tape over clean, balm-free skin and use NOK on the untaped areas so the tape still adheres.

Is it only for athletes?
Not at all — it's equally good for new shoes, hiking holidays, and anyone whose work boots rub. Blister physics don't care whether you're racing.

How much do I need per application?
A pea-sized amount per zone, massaged in thin — the 75ml tube covers a full season of weekly long runs for most athletes.
